CARDEN, ROY M. - age 80, of Lake City passed away May 15, 2009 at St. Mary's Residential Hospice. He was a deacon of New Salem Baptist Church in Clinton and was a veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Carden retired from American General Insurance Company as an insurance agent after 30 years of service.

He is survived by: loving wife of almost 60 years, Barbara Carden of Lake City; daughters, Penny & husband Jack Mynatt and Diane & husband Harold Ivey; granddaughter, Barbie & husband Phil Cates; grandson, Brian & wife Gina Thomas; great grandchildren, Stephen Cates, Brodie Cates, Merritt Cates, Ivey Cates, Logan Thomas, & Ella Thomas; brothers, Gerald Carden and Glen & wife Rubye Carden.

Roy was a wonderful man who loved his family dearly. He will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 pm, Sunday, May 17, 2009 at Holley Gamble Funeral Home with funeral services following in the chapel with Dr. Don Long officiating. Family and friends will meet at Holley Gamble Funeral Home at 10:00 am on Monday, May 18, 2009 and proceed to Norris Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 am interment. Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements.
