The family of Gerald W. Alexander announces his passing on Friday, at the age of 84. Gerald (Bill) was a native of Marble Hill, Mo. Gerald served in the United States Marine Corps in WWII. After graduating from Asbury College in Wilmore, Ky, and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky, Gerald then began his ministry in 1954 as Minister of Music at Woodland Hills Baptist Church in East Atlanta where he served until 1964. He then served the First Baptist Church of Stone Mtn., GA from 1964 until his retirement in 1988, Since his retirement he has been an active member of Mountain Park Baptist Church and most recently Salem Baptist Church in McDonough, GA.
Gerald was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years the former Inez Propst of Bollinger County, Mo. Gerald is survived by his brother Howard, and his son Tim, daughter-in-law Carrie and their four children, Taylor, Staley, Connor and Tanner.
Visitation will be Tuesday at Wages & Sons Funeral Home in Stone Mountain, GA. A service in celebration of his life will be held Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Stone Mtn., GA, with Rev. Dan Parker presiding.
