BELFAST, Va. — Mr. Ron Keene, age 51, of Belfast, Va., passed away Tuesday August 17, 2010 in a Bristol, Tenn. hospital following a brief illness. Born at Richlands, Va., he was the son of Eulis and Kathleen Ward Keen of Slate Creek, Va., and was a 1977 Graduate of Grundy High School. He was employed with the Virginia State Police for the past 28 years. He was a licensed HAM Radio Operator (N4NP) and a member of the ARRL. He was an avid mountain biker on the creeper trail. He loved fishing hunting and his greatest love was being Pop Pop to his granddaughter, Eden.
He was preceded in death by one son, Shawn Anthony Keene; and two brothers-in-law, Johnny Mullins and Sandy Blankenship.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Kim Keene; one daughter, Ashley Nicole Keene of Belfast, Va.; one son, Christopher Adam Keene and wife Melody of Pounding Mill, Va.; one granddaughter, Eden Emersyn Faith Keene; one sister, Nina Ratliff and husband Tim of Timberville, Va.; three nephews, Lance Ratliff, Brody Mullins, Cody Mullins; mother and father-in-law, Sanford and Geneva Blankenship of Manassas, Va.; sister-in-law, Pam Mullins of Abingdon, Va. Many friends and co-workers also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Ron Keene will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday August 21, 2010 at the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Va. Entombment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, Va. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be his Virginia State Police Family.
The family will receive friends at the Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, Va. from 6-9 p.m., Friday with a song service at 7:00 p.m.
