Charles was born May 4, 1923, to Charles Francis and Edith Dawley Call in Soda Springs, Idaho. He grew up and attended school and graduated high school in Soda Springs.
He married Laura Grace Pratt Call on June 6, 1947, in Pocatello, where they made their home.
Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on Aug. 17, 1963. Six children were born to this union.
Charlie and Laura built a house in Marsh Creek, which kept them busy for many years. They later bought a home in Idaho Falls and spent summers in Marsh Creek and winters in Idaho Falls. The last five months of their lives were spent at Fairwinds Retirement Home.
Charlie became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1961 at age 38 and had many callings over the years, including Scouting and the stake Sunday school.
Charlie owned a refrigeration business for most of his life and worked hard to support his family. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and was talented at remodeling homes and fixing just about anything. He was enlisted in the U.S. Navy Reserve for many years. One of his favorite pastimes was telling Navy stories and stories of his childhood in Soda Springs, including driving a horse-drawn buggy through snow to get to the one-room school house. He had the uncanny ability to recite poetry, some of which he remembered from as far back as grade school. Charley taught his children the value of hard work and will be remembered for his determination and courage in the face of hardships, including health problems.
He is survived by his children, Kathleen (Dennis) Wendt and Charles (Colleen) Call, both of Idaho Falls, Adrian (Marty) Call of Brier, Wash., Janet (Vernon) Poppino of Pocatello, Julia (David) Jorgensen of Eagle Mountain, Utah, and Jacqueline (David) Higham of Idaho Falls; a sister, Edith Hines of Grace; and a brother, Stuart Call of St. George, Utah. He also has 30 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura; his parents; three brothers; four sisters; one granddaughter; and two great-grandsons.
