Funeral Set for Brothers

A double funeral for two young brothers who fell off a raft and drowned in an Adams County irrigation lake Friday will be early next week.

Warren 8, and Jimmie Wilmoth 5 will be buried as they died, together. The youngsters were pulled out of Fritz Lake more than 90 minutes afther their heads disappeared beneath its icey waters-only a few feet from safety and just beyond the reach of two friends who tried to rescue them.

MISSED BY INCHES:

Rescue efforts by Edward 13 and Walter Curtis Connor, 11 also brothers failed by only inches. Both Connor boys dived off the raft, hoping to drag the youngesters to safetly and Curtis got almost within reach of Jimmie only to see him go under. Edward was hampered by his right arm in a cast, when he tried to save Warren. "We told them to stay on the bank when we got out in the raft" said Curtis Connor Saturday "but they had to come along".

Both the Curtis and Wilmoth families moved to Denver from Dacono in Weld county a few months ago. All four boys had spent the night at the Wilmoth home, 5196 Broadway, before the tragedy on the waterlogged raft.

10 BROTHERS AND SISTERS:

Surviving the Wilmoth brothers are their mother, Hazel, and 10 brothers and sisters, Rollie, Spenard, Alaska; Mrs. Hazel Beth Adolph, Greeley; Gene and Roy Wilmoth of Greeley, and Charles Lavern, Robert, Ruby, Judy, Perry and Phyllis of Denver.

Funeral for Wilmoth Brothers on Tuesday

Funeral Services for Jimmy and Warren Wilmoth, sons of Mrs. Hazel Wilmoth of 5196 North Broadway, Denver formerly of Weld County, will be held at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon from the Rice Mortuary of Brighton, with internment at Fort Lupton.

The brothers drowned Friday in Fritz Lake, north of Denver. Jimmy was 5 and Warren, 8.

The family lived in Greeley for some time and also in Dacono. Besides their mother, the boys are survived by the following brothers and a sisters, Rollie Wilmoth of Alaska, Mrs. Hazel Beth Adolph of Greeley, Gene, Roy, Charles, Bobby, Ruby, Judy, Phyllis and Perry all at home.
