Carroll Burtrum Carver, 78, of Hopkinsville died Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville. He was born in Greenville, was an Army veteran of World War II, where he received the Purple Heart from his service during the Battle of the Bulge, and he retired as a manager from Southern States Co-op. He was a member of the board of trustees at First United Methodist Church; a former city councilman; a member of the Kiwanis Club; and a charter member of the Western Hills Golf Club.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Smith Carver; a son,Bruce Carver of Hopkinsville; a daughter, Linda Kingsley of Owensboro; four stepdaughters, Linda Hayes and Sharon Davis, both of Hopkinsville, Kathy Cunningham of Georgia and Susan Weatherford of Madisonville; six grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas Carver and Russell Carver, both of Greenville; and five sisters, Audrey Cisney and Thelma Sherrod, both of Greenville, Jean Westerfield of Cadiz, Christine Miller of Ohio and Marjorie Oatts of California.
Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home in Hopkinsville. Burial will be in Green Hill Memorial Gardens.
