Edward was the son of Nelson and Helen (Rudd) Hitchcock. He was born February 23, 1923 in San Diego, California.
Edward was a machinist and airplane mechanic. When he lived in Greenwood Lake, New York he had a seaplane and was known as the "Flying Fireman", when there were forest fires in the mountains he would fly over and radio to the fire department where the fire was and what was needed.
He was an honorary member of the Greenwood Lake Volunteer Fire Department, due to medical reasons he could not actually fight fires but he assisted the Fire Department in many other ways.
He enjoyed flying his plane and sailing. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, the former Grace Rieve; five children, Charles (Vera) Stark, Helen (Max) Dyell, Roger (Sherry) Hitchcock, Barbara (Pat) Burke, Nancy (Gerald) Dancy; 7 grandchildren, Scott and Jennifer Stark, Todd Dyell, Nicole and Lauren Burke, Gerald Jr. and Reginald Dancy; a sister, Jane (Vince) Lombardo; a brother in law, Charles (Irene) Rieve; a special aunt, Hazel (Bromley) Rudd; another aunt, Marion Rudd, an uncle John Danuinas, 3 nephews and several cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, and a brother Roger, two uncles, Edward Leland Rudd, Harold Rudd, and an aunt, Dorothy Danuinas, his father in law, Charles Rieve and his mother in law, Grace (Price) Rieve Zeilnhofer and his stepfather in law, Edward Zeilnhofer.
