She was born January 14, 1948 in Eden, Idaho to Willie Bentley and Hettie Lewis where she was raised and attended school. She was part of a very large family and had 13 siblings.
She later joined the job corps where she met Eugene Berry. They were later married and had three children, one of which died at birth. They lived in Hunt, Idaho where she helped with the farm work in addition to raising the children and tending to the house chores.
In 1992, she lost her husband and began working as a flagger in Hazelton for road crews. Shortly thereafter she moved to Burley and in 1996 met Manuel Gallegos after he was invited to her twin sister's house for supper one evening. He would become her partner for the rest of her life.
Joyce loved the great outdoors, and especially camping, hunting, and even fishing in Canada. She was very crafty and loved working with her hands. She enjoyed woodworking and made and sold ceramics. She was outgoing and loved people and no one had to ever guess what was in her mind. Most of all she loved her family and her grandchildren.
In 2005, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Manual was a great caretaker for her. In October of 2011 she moved to the care facility in which she passed.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Eugene, and her baby boy, Gene.
She is survived by one brother and three sisters; her daughter, Susan Berry; her son, Tee Jay (Sarha) Berry; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her partner, Manuel Gallegos, and his family.
