L.A. Aluminum Casting Company was founded in Los Angeles County, California in 1947 by Robert E. Oswald, Sr. and his wife, Helen, as a two person shop located in a small Quonset hut. Bob and Helen had a mission statement: "Every customer is critical to our success and we gladly serve each with the commitment to excellence and the willingness to do whatever it takes to provide service that's exceptional." With this philosophy the business grew very quickly, and the expanding operation was relocated to Gardena, California. Further augmentation prompted another move in 1966 to Harbor City, California. In 1972, the Oswalds relocated to the present location in Hayden Lake, Idaho.

Their legacy is continued by their son and granddaughter.
