EULOGY FOR CARL FREDERICK STACK SR
given by a member of the Bladensburg VFD

We are here to remember the life of Carl F. Stack Sr., a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great great-grandfather, brother and friend. A devoted life member of the Bladensburg Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad.

The few that have the dedication to the fire service have learned the value of care for others. It is not an easy task to stop and not pass by. This is one of the jobs that Carl chose.
Unfortunately, not having the privilege of knowing Carl personally, I have spoken with many people. All tell me that Carl lived life to its fullest. They also tell that he was one of the most liked members of our department. Carl did not like clicks, he was friends with everyone. In mentioning his name it brought smiles to everyone's faces.
Carl loved to drive the 1937 Buffalo. There were a few occasions where it was more like flying and you had better hold on, but he got us there. In his last days he expressed his wishes of having a fire department funeral service. When Carl Jr. told him that his final ride was going to be on the Buffalo a smile broke out on his face. After 65 years of service, once again he would be back on his beloved Buffalo.
Life seems to go in circles, where one point ends another begins. Carl may not be physically here with us now, but he is and will remain with all of us in the memories that he has left us with. Happy ones and sad ones, these memories have laid a foundation for us to pass on what has been learned, by him and from him, to those that come after him. Thus completing the circle.
To the family and friends of Carl F. Stack Sr., we, the Bladensburg Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, convey our deepest sympathy to you. He will be greatly missed.
