William E. "Ed" Haley, passed away after a lengthy illness. He was born March 2, 1919 in Cooper, Texas the fifth of ten children to parents Edward C. and Willie Mae (Wickersham) Haley. He married Mildred LaVern Lane April 7, 1940 she passed away December 27, 2005 after 65 years of marriage. Ed graduated Lubbock High School in 1939 he entered the U.S. Army in 1942 and served in Mort Africa, Sicily, Italy, France and Germany until 1945. He founded Lubbock Wholesale Florist in 1953 and retired in his early seventies. He was an avid golfer for over 50 years, and made many friends during those years. He was a member of he Lubbock Lions Club, was raised a Master Mason in Yellowhouse Lodge in 1948 and a member of the South Plains Shrine. He was a member of Lubbockview Christian Church for over 50 years where he served as a Deacon, Elder, Board member and trustee. He attended regularly until about five weeks ago when his heath prevented it.

He is survived by two sisters, Lena Finley of Albuquerque, N.M., and Helen Gholson of Lubbock; his brother, Robert Haley of Tyler, Texas; son Dennis Haley and wife Carolyn of Lubbock; and his daughter Darlann Dickinson, of Lubbock. Also surviving are his grandsons, Matthew Dickinson and wife Erica, of Lubbock, Jeremy Dickinson and wife Lauren of Euless; great-granddaughters, Alexis Dickinson and Haley Dickinson; and great-grandson Nathan Dickinson.

A family visitation will be held Thursday Evening at Rix Funeral Directors, Memorial Services will be held Friday Morning at 11 a.m. in the Lubbockview Christian Church with Reverend William Hendricks and Reverend Mike Haley Officiating.
