Jess A. Taggart Funeral Services Held At Alfalfa
Funeral services for Jess A. Taggart were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Alfalfa Methodist church with Rev. Luther Skaggs officiating. Rev. Harold Dodson and Rev. Lack Lyons assisted. Burial was in the Alfalfa cemetery.
Taggart, 90, had been seriously ill since July. He died Tuesday, October 8, in an Anadarko nursing home.
He was born February 15, 1873, in Arkansas, and was a resident of the Oak Dale community for several years. He was preceded in death by one daughter,
He is survived by his wife, Lillie; six children, Mrs. Edith Benson, Burns Flat, Mrs. Mildred James, Walla Walla, Wash., Mrs. Fannie Bell Turney, Houston, Mrs. Elsie Turney, Cloud Chief, Ray Taggart, Oklahoma City, and Mrs. Edna Fowler, Fairbanks, Alaska; one sister, Mrs. Lillian White, Locksburg, Ark.; 31 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Henry Griffitts, Al Lunsford, John Phelps, Garnett Bybee, Dan Turney and Jess Smith.
