Born the 4th child of Johann Frederich (John Frederick) Dittmor/Dittmer (German immigrant) and Sophia Anna Howard Rosser.

WWI draft card says Bert was of medium height & build, with grey eyes & light brown hair.

Married Lillie May Van Sant 24 Oct 1900 in Ansley, Nebraska.

They had 7 children, only 3 living beyond infancy: Mildred Irene (1901-1901), David Clarence (1903-1981), Freda Mae Harbison(1904-1987), Kenneth (1907-1907), Nellie Elizabeth Bohlman (1909-1989), Earl (1916-1917) and Dorothy A (1919-1920).

Bert was a farmer most of his life. Moved from Nebraska to Colorado in the 1920's. There he worked for the county (Kit Carson County) running a road grader, and his son David Dittmer ran the crawler tractor that pulled the grader.

Bert died from cancer at age 52
