Obituary
James H. Campbell, son of NIcholas and Mary Campbell, was born in McDonough County, Illinois, May 1, 1835. His parents moved to Indiana when he was three years old, lived there until he was seventeen when they returned to Hancock county, Illinois, where in 1856 he was united in marriage to Miss America Frakes. To this union were born two children, Dr. F.M. Campbell of Wichita, Kans., and Mrs. Ida A. Atkins of Udall, Kans. In the year 1882 he with his family moved to Barton county, Kansas, where they lived until 1899 when they came to Sumner county, Kansas. In 1910 they moved to Udall, Kansas, at which place he passed away March 12, 1915, at the age of 80 years, 10 months and 11 days, after a lingering illness of Bright's disease. His children were both with him during his last four months of his suffering.
He leaves to mourn his loss his two children, nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. His wife having preceded him seventeen months before.
He was the eldest of twelve children, of which only one brother and one sister survive him.
Funeral services were conducted at the M.E. church Sunday, March 14 at 2 p.m. by Rev. Hopkins, Congregational minister. Interment in Udall cemetery.
