Son of Julius and Emily Crapps of Columbia.

Graduated Columbia High School in 1971. He received a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Carolina on a NROTC scholarship. After graduating, he was commissioned in the U.S. Navy and attended Surface Warfare Officers School in Newport, R.I. He was currently employed by the Department of the Navy as an Advanced Programs Manager for Surface Ship Weapons.

Survived by his parents; sister, Janet Tolbert of Orlando, Fla.; brother, David Crapps of Columbia; niece, Valerie Peter and her husband, Nick, of Lexington; two nephews, Chip Brazell of Lexington and Brooks Tolbert of Orlando, Fla.; and one great-nephew, Colin Peter of Lexington. Predeceased by sister, Pamela Brazell.

Pallbearers were Bill Lesesne, Pat Lesesne, Ralph Lesesne, Chris Johnson, Harry Onley and Robert Boozer.
