At age 12, the family moved to Artesia, New Mexico where he graduated High School. Muscially inclined, he was an accomplished guitarist and played for Berea Baptist Church and Hopewell Baptist Church.
Life's department came on December 4, 1995 in Crockett at age 55. Survivors are special friend: Wilma Leigh of Crockett, seven sisters: Sedalia Wilson of Portland, OR, Marjorie Terry of Inglewood, CA, Joyce Baker, Lucille Colter, Mae Miller, Jean Colter, Belinda Wilson all of Los Angeles, CA. Uncle: Raymond P Colter, two aunts: Margaret Jane Wilson and Johnnie Mae Randolph; step-daughter Erma Sanders of Chapel Hill, Texas, stepson Charles Leigh of Huntsville, Texas, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were held Saturday, December 9, 1995, 2pm at Berea Baptist Church, Berea Community, with Rev Nathaniel Thacker, Pastor, Rev Charles Holmes, officiated.
Eternal resting place was in Stainton Thomas Cemetery. Casket bearers were: Kendrick Shepherd, Lee Burns, Roy Colter, Anthony Colter, Steve Colter and Curtis Colter.
