As a young girl Carol joined the Trinity A.M.E. Church. She attended Gouldtown Grammar School and Bridgeton High School.
On December 24, 1923 Carol was united in marriage to the late Harry C. Gilbert. From this union seven children were born. She was devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Her home on Dickerson Street, Woodbury, was always open to everyone with love and kindness. She was a pillar of strength for her family and friends.
Carol was a long time resident of Woodbury, N.J and a member of the Campbell A.M.E. Church. She also resided in Orlando, FL and Gouldtown, NJ. In later years she moved to Mt. Royal, NJ to live with her daughter Catherine and her husband William S. Smith.
She leaves to cherish her memory her three daughters, Catherine T. Smith, Anna Helms and Ethel Galloway, five sons Harry W. , Herman T., Ralph C., Henry C., and Richard M., two sons-in-laws; Andrew Galloway and Barney Helms, five daughters-in-law; Charlotte, Janet, Esther, Joyce and Delphine, 24 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
