Rites in Alfalfa Church Saturday For Mrs. James
Services for Mrs. J.M. James, a resident of the Alfalfa community for 34 years, were Saturday afternoon in the Alfalfa Baptist church and burial was in the Alfalfa cemetery. Rev. Roy Womble, Durant, former pastor, conducted the services and was assisted by Rev. Gerald Squyres, pastor. Mrs. James had been in failing health about four years.
Emma Evans was born Sept. 30, 1889, at Soldier City, Mo., and died Sept. 28, 1950, in Carnegie at the age of 60 years, 11 months and 28 days. She was converted 45 years age and was a member of the church at the time of her death.
She was married to J.M. James Jan. 30, 1916, near Clayton, New Mexico, and they have since made their home near Alfalfa.
Survivors are her husband at home; a son, Charles James, Oklahoma City; two daughters, Mrs. Fred Melnik, of Santa Monica, Calif., and Mrs. Virgil Pickard of Grass Valley, Calif. Also her twin brother, Leffer Evans, of Santa Ana, Calif., and many other relatives and friends.
Here for the services in addition to the son and daughters, were Mrs. James, Oklahoma City, and Mr. Melnik and Mr. Pickard of California.
