MORELAND — Elmer Eugene "Gene" Bell, 87, of Moreland, went to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, July 22, 2010.
Born Feb. 2, 1923, he was the son of the late Jesse Elmer and Winnie Smith Bell. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran, where he served in Guam and Saipan. He attended Hustonville Baptist Church. For over 40 years, he was a devoted Southern Baptist Sunday School teacher, deacon and was a charter member of Moreland Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Geneva Campbell Bell; two daughters, Linda Pruitt Warner and her husband, Donnie, of Lexington, and Brenda Goggin and her husband, Allen, of Danville; six grandchildren, Scott (Marlyn) Pruitt, Tracy (Bill) Zielke, Derek (Amy) Pruitt, Emilee (Jonathan) Green, and Kerrie and Hannah Goggin; and seven great-grandchildren, McKenna, Caden, Anna Kelley, Will, Benjamin, Landon and Jordan.

Celebration of Life service will be 12 p.m. Friday, July 30, at Hustonville Baptist Church by Bros. Ernest Martin, Lawrence Phipps and Jonathan Grizzell. Burial is at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Military rites are by American Legion Post 18.

Pallbearers are David, Jeffrey, and Mark Cooper, Scott and Derek Pruitt and Bill Zielke. Honorary pallbearers are Miles Gibson, Bro. Bill Julian, Paul Rice, Frank Barry, Harrison Hardin, Richard and Jimmy Cooper, David Lawson, Glyn Southerland, James Grizzell, Mary Kirkpatrick, Jonathan Green and Roy Newcomb.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. Thursday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home.
