ALDRICH, David Metcalf was born May 28, 1928 in Susquehana County, Pennsylvania, the son of Levi Capron Aldrich and Laura Seeley. He married Caroline L? about 1854 and they were the parents of three children, Edward E., Levi C. and Lelia E. He was employed variously as a tax collector in California in the 1860's, as a farmer in Downers Grove in 1870, as a miner in California in the 1870's, as a hotel keeper in California in the 1880's and as a roof painting contractor and manufacturer in California in the 1890's and early 1900's. He was raised a Master Mason August 31, 1869. He died December 24, 1911 in Stockton, County, California, and was buried in the Rural Cemetery, Stockton, California.
DEATH OF DAVID ALDRICH
David Metcalf Aldrich, an old Stockton resident, died Sunday at his residence, 345 North Grant street. Mr. Aldrich was born in Pennsylvania in 1828 and came across the plains to California in 1856, locating in Calaveras county. He had resided in this city for twenty years and was well-known. A grand-daughter, Mrs. J. A. Kelso, of Portland, survives him.
