An obituary for Mrs. Stella D. Bridges, 83, a former Shelbyville resident, states she had died unexpectedly in Decatur where she had lived for about a month. She had lived in Oklahoma for several months and prior to that had lived in Decatur for several years. She was born Nov. 21, 1874, in Ash Grove township, the daughter of Robert and Lucinda Ferguson Abercrombie. She married John L. Bridges in 1895 in Ash Grove. Surviving were a son, Dean of Decatur; three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Pearson and Mrs. Bessie Case, both of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Mrs. Dorothy Duncan of Hillsdale. Also surviving were two brothers, Bert Abercrombie of Whiting, Ind., Bart of Texas City, Tex., and two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Hughes of Strasburg, and Mrs. Bertha Tolen of Shelbyville. There were nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Services were held in Dawson and Wikoff Funeral Home in Decatur with burial in Ash Grove Cemetery.
