THE REV. BENCE

VALLEY -- The Rev. William Thomas Bence, 58, of Valley died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002 in Columbus, Ga., due to complications of Diabetes.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, Aug. 16 at 11 a.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Revs. Albert Thornton and James Hare officiating. Burial will follow in Shawmut Cemetery.

The Rev. Bence is survived by his wife, Diane Clark Bence; his daughter, Staci Bence of York, England; and his son, Wade (Suzanne) Bence of Anniston, Ala.

Born Feb. 3, 1944 in Chambers County, the Rev. Bence surrenderedd to the ministry in June of 1973, and was ordained into the ministry in February of 1982, serving as a pastor. He was also involved in the construction business. He was known as a bulder of property and people. He was the son of the late Cohen and Dot. Bence.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the American Diabetic Association or the National Kindey Foundation.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 15 from 7 until 9 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
