Samuel P. Adams Sr., who died at Lake Region Hospital Monday, will be held at the Federated Church Wednesday at 11 a.m. Rev. William Sebring and Rev. William Van Dyken will officiate. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Adams, who was retired as president of the First National Bank, was born in Fergus Falls Sept. 5, 1892, a son of Elmer and Fanny Adams. He attended Hills School in Pottstown, Pa., and Yale University, New Haven, Conn. During World War I he served as a lieutenant in the Army. He was married to Lucia Lauritzen in Fergus Falls Jan. 1,1921.
He was vice president and treasurer of Otter Tail Power
Company from 1921 to 1949 and served on the board of directors from 1921 to 1965. He was a director of the First Bank System from 1947 to 1965 and a director of the First National Bank from 1922 to 1975. After the death of his father in 1950, he served as president of the bank until Dec. 31,1975 when he retired.
Surviving are his wife, one son, Samuel Jr. of Fergus Falls; two daughters, Mrs. George (Anne) Hage of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Douglas (Lucy) Johnson of Des Moines, and nine grandchildren.
The family prefers memorials to the charity of the donor's choice.
