Final rites were held in the Perryton Baptist Church Thursday afternoon, 2:30 o'clock, for Mrs. J. B. WIEBE, who passed away at her home near Waka on Saturday morning, June 13. Rev. Dan Blickentall, pastor of the Waka Brethren Church, had charge. He was assisted by Rev. S. R. McClung, Baptist pastor, and Rev. H. T. Neufeld, Enid, Oklahoma. Interment was in the Ochiltree Cemetery.
Music was furnished by a quartet from the Bethany Mennonite Church and by members of the Waka Church Choir. Mrs. Allan Denison was at the piano. Granddaughters of Mrs. WIEBE carried the flowers. They were Leona BALZER, Adeline and Leona WIEBE, Luella Mae and Martha FLEMING, Alice and Ardith WIEBE, Lela FREISEN and Verna JANZEN. Pallbearers were Homer GURLEY, Henry BUSCHMAN, Fred BUTLER, Dan TEATER, Jake BOESE and D. E. BULLER.
Aganetha NEUFELD was born on December 18, 1870 in the village of Lindenort, South Russia. In 1875 she came with her parents, Peter and Aganetha Wiens NEUFELD to America and they settled in McPherson County, Kansas. With them she went through the hard experiences of pioneer life.
She accepted Christ as her personal Savior and on the July 28, 1889 was baptized by Elder Henry Toews and accepted into the Bethel Mennonite Church at Inman, Kansas.
On December 14, 1892, she was united in marriage to Jacob B. WIEBE. To this union were born eight children, three sons and five daughters. They are Abraham, Waka; Jacob, Clinton, Oklahoma, Mrs. Helen FLEMING, Weatherford, Oklahoma; Mrs. Agnes JANZEN, Hooker, Oklahoma; Mrs. Susie REMPEL, Corn, Oklahoma; Mrs. Anna FRIESEN, Hooker, Oklahoma; Mrs. Martha BALZER, Dallas, Texas; and Herman of Waka. All but two were present at her bedside when death came.
