Clara M. "Arlie" Hannon, 87, of Rock Island, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010, at Trinity Pathway Hospice, Bettendorf.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Burial is at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to Alleman High School.

Clara Albracht was born April 22, 1923, in Lindsay, Neb., a daughter of Henry and Gertrude Schaecher Albracht. She graduated from St. Francis High School in Humphrey, Neb., where she had been a cheerleader. Arlie married John P. Hannon on Oct. 23, 1948, in Rock Island. He died on Oct. 14, 1993.

She worked in the cafeteria at Rock Island High School for many years. In early years, she worked at the International Harvester Farmall Works and for Servus Rubber Co.

She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and attended the Rock Island Senior Center. Arlie volunteered with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, and for 29 years was a volunteer at the Quad City Open Golf Classic. She participated in and was a volunteer for the Quad City Senior Olympics and loved to crochet and embroider, and go to the "boat" and play cards. But most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Don Wadle, Ogden Dunes, Ind., and Pam and Jim Van Acker, Moline; grandchildren (and spouses), Sarah Wadle, Portage, Ind., Joe Wadle, Chicago, Matt (Julie) Van Acker, East Lansing, Mich., Joe (Rose) Van Acker, Lowell, Mich., Tom Van Acker, Rock Island, and Jill (Nathan) Borega, Chicago; great-grandchildren, Jack and Adi Van Acker, Luna Lyder, Lily and Ian Van Acker, and Claire and Caroline Borega; twin brother, Clarence "Bud" (Germaine) Albracht, Humphrey; other brothers and sisters, Sylvester Albracht, Moline, Janette "Tudy" Schure, Humphrey, MaryAnn "Babe" (Carroll) Kraus, Florida, and Bill (Marge) Albracht, Humphrey; and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Van Hoozer, Wichita, Kan., Rita Albracht, Sioux City, Iowa, Yvonne Albracht, Omaha, Neb., and Winifred Hannon Stocks, Geneseo. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers; and five sisters.
