T. A. Ireland Laid to Rest
The funeral services of T. A. Ireland took place at the family house south of Monmouth Saturday afternoon, Rev. E. C. Wigmore pastor of the Christian church at Monmouth officiating. Interment followed and took place in the cemetery south of Monmouth.
Mr. Ireland's death occurred at his home two miles south of Monmouth on Thursday, Jan 28, 1908. He was taken suddenly ill with pnumonia on Friday evening that week previous and passed quietly away the following Thursday.
Mr. Ireland was a well known and highly esteemed citizen of Polk county having resided here for about forty years. He was born in Jackson county, Indiana, in 1842, and moved from there to Iowa where he was married on March 27, 1864, to Miss N. L. Brummet. Mr. and Mrs. Ireland started the same year across the plains to Oregon and since then he has lived on his farm south of Monmouth. The death of his wife occurred two years ago. The deceased leaves a family of six children and a host of friends made through his long residence in Polk county to mourn their loss.
