Peggy Sue Bengston, 59, of Bull Valley, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 14, 2010, surrounded by her family at home. Peggy was born on September 19, 1950, to Victor and Margaret (Stoddard) Winkelman and grew up in Union, Illinois. She attended Union and Marengo public schools through her junior year in high school and graduated in 1968 from Crystal Lake Central High School. She met her future husband, David, at a dance at Northern Illinois University in April of 1968. On June 20, 1970, they were married. Peggy worked in the claims department at Unigard Insurance Company until their first daughter was born in 1974. Peggy's greatest passion was her family. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, faithfully attending all of their school and extracurricular events. Her other hobbies included baking, gardening, antiquing, and talking with friends and family on the phone. She enjoyed spending time at their vacation home on Lake Redstone in LaValle, Wisconsin, as well as the yearly family vacation at Ghost Lake Lodge in Hayward, Wisconsin. Peggy had a lifelong love of animals. She often nursed injured birds until they were well. She enjoyed watching the variety of birds and wildlife that passed through her yard, especially the wild turkeys and deer. Peggy was deeply loved by her family and friends. She will be greatly missed, and her absence will leave a hole in many hearts. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, David Bengston; two daughters, Jennifer (Courtney) Haas, of Marengo and Amanda (Mark) Petrowsky, of Chicago; four grandchildren, Madelyn, Noelle, and Hunter Haas, and Adehla Petrowsky; her brother Wayne (Sharon) Winkelman; her in-laws Connie (Merle) Freund and Daniel (Patti) Bengston; her beloved pets Nicky, Sam, and Molly; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Philip. Visitation will be Thursday, August 19th from 4 PM to 8 PM at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home at 1211 N. When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little--but not too long
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared
Miss me--but let me go.
For this is a journey that we all must take
And each must go alone. It's all a part of the Master's plan
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss Me - But Let me Go!
