Obituary in The State, Columbia, SC, 5 May 2006: Chapin - Services for Laura Boland Metts will be held 11 a.m. Saturday May 6, 2006, at Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church, with interment in church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2006, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel. Memorials may be made to Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church. Mrs. Metts passed away May 3, 2006, in Generations of Chapin. Born June 11, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Clifton C. and Bertha Comalander Boland. She was a member of Mount Horeb Lutheran Church, where she served as weekday church school director and teacher. She also was a life member of WELCA and D.A.V. Auxiliary Chapter 13, West Columbia. Mrs. Metts is survived by her husband, Charles Boyd Metts; son, Aubrey Metts and wife, Mary Nell, of Chapin; brother, Clyde Boland of Chapin; sisters, Vera Summer of West Columbia and Audrey Fulmer of Chapin; and granddaughters, Stephanie Metts of Lexington and Laurie (Tim) Schmidt of Augusta, GA; and one great-grandson, Charlie Schmidt. She was predeceased by her brother, Elton Boland. The family expresses heartfelt thanks to the caregivers at Generations.
