Alva Birdsey Coe, born in Middlefield, CT, in 1826, was a farmer and resided in his native town which be represented in the Conn. Assembly in 1882. Representative for Middlefield, Middlesex County: Of Middlefield, has held a number of local offices in the town which he now represents, among them being justice of the peace, school visitor, and first selectman. The position last named he still holds. He was born in Middletown in 1826, and reached the age of fifty-five years on December 14th last. During his life he has engaged in farming, and is a Republican in politics. He married at Springfield, Mass., Jan. 81, 1859, Miranda F. Miller, b. in Middlefield, CT, about 1827, daughter of Col. Amos and Miranda Miller; she died Apr. 7, 1864. They had two other children besides Freddie:
1. Frederick Coe (1859 - 1863)
2. Frank Amos Coe (1864 - ) who married Virginia Marion Coe
