East Peoria, IL - Bessie H. ''Betty'' Hulva, 60, of 2014 Bloomington Road died at 2:40 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, at her residence.
Born May 2, 1940, in Elmwood to Henry Richard and Helen Virginia Bilderback Shirley, she married John E. Hulva on June 27, 1958, in Morton. He survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Danny (and Gail) Hulva of Secor, Anthony (and Julie) of Lexington, N.C., and John (and Michelle) of East Peoria; one daughter, Denise (and Victor) Nyman of Foster City, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and three sisters, Julie (and Nels) Hickman of Havana, Alice (and Hubert) Shoemaker of Tucson, Ariz., and Carol (and Richard) Wilcoxen of Lewistown.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister.
She was co-chairwoman for Folepi's Forest of East Peoria Festival of Lights for 14 years. She was honorary chairwoman for Relay for Life 2000 and was East Peoria Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year for 1999. She also was a Youth For Understanding host for three years and a foster mother.
Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery.
