Identification of the body of a young woman found wedged in the ice along the bank of the Potomac river at Cumberland, Md., as that of Miss Anna M. Pulwitt, Springfield girl and former state house stenographer, cleared up the mystery of her disappearance from Washington D. C., since February 13. The girl's mother, Mrs. J. D. Stroje, Springfield, and the girl's sister, Miss Louise Pulwitt, stenographer in the office of the state superintendent of public instruction, identified the body yesterday at Cumberland. Miss Pulwitt, who had been employed as a stenographer in the census bureau at Washington for the last five years, visited Springfield a short time ago and, according to her friends, apparently was well and happy, and told her relatives how well she enjoyed working and residing in Washington. Miss Louise Pulwitt and her mother went to Washington as soon as word was received in Springfield of her mysterious disappearance.

On the day of her disappearance, Miss Pulwitt boarded a Baltimore & Ohio train at Washington, and it is believed she had intended to come home, but instead stopped off at Cumberland, Mr. According to belief of Cumberland authorities, Miss Pulwitt walked over the bank into Wills creek at Cumberland from a back yard where some of the woman's belongings were found. The creek was then high and it is believed that her body was then washed out into the river.

The remains of Miss Pulwitt will be brought to Springfield for funeral services and interment. Mrs. Stroje left for Washington to close up her daughter's estate.
