Anna Mayer was born in Klein-Lomnitz, Szepes, Hungary. She immigrated with her parents to the United States in 1884.She was a telephone operator in Pennsylvania and near Ilo, Idaho (now craigmont, Idaho) before she, her parents, sister Mary and brothers-John Jr. and William applied for homesteads near Carter Montana, in 1909. In Hungary the last name was spelled Mager, which changed, for some unknown reason to Mayer, sometime during or shortly after immigration. Anna Mayer married John Andrew Sheely Nov. 9, 1909, in British Columbia Canada. He was a widower and worked for the railroad as a brakeman. At the time of her death she and her husband John Andrew Sheely lived in Anaconda, Montana. She died in a Minnesota Hospital due to surgery complications.
