Henry Benedict Falk

Henry Benedict Falk, 86, passed away August 9, 2010.
He was born in Atchison, Kansas the son of Henry A. and Mary Ellen Kirwan Falk. He attended St. Benedict's Elementary School, graduating from Maur Hill Prep School in 1942 as his class validictorian.
He was a member of St. Benedict's Church, served as an usher for the church, and a longtime promoter of the RCIA program of his church, and avid supporter of the Atchison Catholic School athletics and a regular "fixture" at the Ball Brothers Drug Store lunch counter. Through the years, Henry met and visited with numerous people, whether he knew them or not, using his social skills to make everyone feel at home. Henry was a farmer and additionally he was employed with Blish-Mize Company for fifteen years until his retirement.
Henry is survived by three daughters, Emily Falk, New Florence, PA, Jennifer Falk, Tuscan, AZ, Laura Ground, Waterville, KS, a son, Todd Lay, Waterville, KS, a sister, Mary Beth Kolodziej, St. Louis, MO, ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
His wife Wendy preceded him in death on June 6, 1999. Also preceding Henry in death were two brothers, William Herbert Falk and John Kirwan Falk.
Services to be held on Friday, August 13, 2010 | 10:00 a.m., at St. Benedict's Church with Rev. Gerard Senecal, OSB as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A parish and Knights of Columbus rosary will be recited on Thursday, August 12th at 7:00 P.M. in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 8:30 P.M. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Benedict's Church, Benedictine College or Maur Hill Mount Academy and may be left in care of the funeral home.
