Jerome A "Jerry" Friermood, 78, of Barnes, passed away Wednesday, Aug 11, 2010, at St Mary's Medical Center in Duluth. Jerry was born Aug 6, 1932, in Ashland to the late Darrien and Blanche (Pease) Friermood. He married Viola Schwerin Aug 20, 1956, in Crownpoint, IN. They enjoyed 53 wonderful years together.

Jerry owned and operated Friermood's Service - Barnes from 1954-1980. He had the first Arctic Cat Snowmobile Dealership in Wisconsin from 1963-1980. Jerry founded the Eau Claire Lakes Airport in Barnes.

Jerry fed his deer twice daily since 1975. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing and making maple syrup with his family. Jerry loved his travels to Canada with his family. He was a member of the Barnes Fire Department for 40 years and he served as chief for 10 years of those 40 years. Jerry was just awarded Emergency Fire Warden for 50 years.

He is preceded in death by one sister, Patricia in 1999; two brothers, Darold Friermood in 2006 and Bill Friermood in 2009.

Among those who survive and gratefully shared his life are his wife, Viola of Barnes; one son, Gregg (Robin); three grandsons, Brett, Brock and Brandon, all of Barnes.

Pallbearers will be Richard Fredericks, Paul Susienka, Gary, Brett, Brock and Brandon Friermood. Burial will be in the Barnes Memorial Cemetery in Barnes.
