Dorothy Vernon Bland Stern, age 84, of Topsail Beach, died Friday, Feb. 10, 2006, at home. Funeral services were held Monday at Wallace Presbyterian Church. Dr. Philip Gladden conducted the service. Burial followed in Rockfish Cemetery. Padgett Funeral Home is serving the family.
She is survived by three sons, Robert Bruce Stern of Atlanta, GA, James H. Stern of Carlsbad, CA, and Gary Edward Stern and wife Carrie of Miami, FL; two brothers, Joe W. Bland, Jr. and wife Myree of Rose Hill and Jack B, Bland and wife Jane of St. Augustine, FL; four grandsons, Robert Alan Stern of Miami Beach, FL, Michael Stern and Steven Stern, both of Miami, FL. and Danny Stern of Carlsbad CA.
Mrs. Stern was born in Swain County. Her husband, Edward Stern, her parents, Joe and Norma Bland; and one sister, Jane Bland Watson, preceded her in death. Mrs. Stern was a member of Wallace Presbyterian Church.
Casket bearers were Rob Stern, David Endress, John Watson, Will Bland, Joe Bland III, and Kelly Bland.
