PANEK, Stanley Joseph - age 90, of Mt. Morris, formerly of Flint Twp. passed away peacefully in his sleep at home surrounded by family on Saturday, October 31, 2009. Services will be held 4 PM Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Mt. Morris Free Methodist Church, 2115 W. Mt. Morris Rd., Mt. Morris, MI 48458 with Pastor Keith Childerhose officiating. Stan was born December 26, 1918 in Trenton, NJ, the son of Wincenti and Maggie (Burska) Panek. He married Ruth Augsbury in Flint in 1945 and was an active member of the Free Methodist Church for many years. Stan was a devoted husband; father, grandfather and he will be missed by family and friends alike. Surviving are: two sons, Dr. David Panek of Mt. Morris, Timothy (Linda) Panek of Costa Rica; five grandchildren, Michael, Heather, Joshua, Johanna and Miriam; great-granddaughter, Miranda Leigh Panek; brother-in-law, James (Janice) Augsbury of Flint Twp; sister-in-law, Glenna Maxwell of Flint Twp. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Panek, granddaughter, Allison Panek; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Panek and brother-in-law, Arthur Maxwell. The family extends a special thank you to Ann Arnett and Susan Roy for their loving, compassionate care as well as Dr. Frederick VanDuyne and the staff of Avalon Hospice for the professional tender care they also provided.
