He was born on Feb. 3, 1914, to Ernest P. and Elizabeth A. (Greer) Mitchell. He married Leah Ruth Stein on Sept. 3, 1939, in Peoria. She passed away on Aug. 31, 2000.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers and seven sisters.
Surviving are four sons, Michael of Shorewood, Wis., William (Pamela) of Peoria, Ill., Peter of Palmetto, Fla., and Dan (Gini) of Green Bay, Wis. Also surviving are six grandsons, two granddaughters and eight great-grandchildren.
Charles attended Central High School, and then went on to study Pharmacology. He worked for McKesson & Robbins for 38 years.
He later worked in the pharmacy at Proctor Hospital and Bel-Wood Nursing Home.
He was a member of the former Arcadia Presbyterian Church, where he had been a deacon. He was involved with the Boy Scouts of America for many years. He was a member of the Woodruff Athletic Assoc. Hall of Fame for his work as a photographer. He was a member of the Mohammed Temple Shrine.
Charles was an avid fisherman. He was also a Kiwanis Key Club Advisor.
Cremation rites are accorded. A memorial service will be at Bel-Wood Nursing Home at a later date. Burial of ashes will be at Fondulac Cemetery.
