He was a graduate of Rapho Township High School and the former Mechanics Institute.
Walter was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
He built and operated WABX, Harrisburg's first FM Radio Station and was the Station's General Manager, was a Transmitter Engineer for Radio Station WCMB and the former WTPA-TV (Channel 27), a Refrigerator / Appliance Repairman for John Stapf Company, an Electronics Repairman for K & D Radio, formerly operated an appliance repair shop, and retired as an Installation / Maintenance Technician from Capital Alarms, Camp Hill.
Walter was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lancaster and a former member and Administrative Board Chairman of Colonial Park United Methodist Church where he taught Bible Studies and Sunday School, and a former member of First Church of God.
He was a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans.
In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his wife: Bertha (Zimmerman) Deemer.
He is survived by his son: Henry H. Deemer of Leola; and, his two grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 09:30 - 10:30 AM on Friday, May 16, 1997 in Colonial Park United Methodist Church 5000 Devonshire Road, Harrisburg. Funeral Services will begin at 10:30 AM.
Interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
