Mary Beth Donovan, age 92 of New Hampton, Iowa died Wednesday August 11, 2010, at the New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 16, 2010, at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in New Hampton with Pastor Laura Hucke of the Congregational United Church of Christ officiating. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery, New Hampton.
Friends may greet the family 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in New Hampton. Visitation continues an hour before the service at the funeral home.
Mary Elizabeth Donovan was born July 29, 1918, in Sioux City, IA, the daughter of Jesse and Hazel (McGillivray) MacKay. She was a graduate of the University of Iowa and taught school in Hampton and Grundy Center IA, before she married Daniel O. Donovan on September 20, 1945. The couple made New Hampton their home where she was a substitute teacher in the English department and a Chickasaw County Supervisor from 1981 until 1986. Her husband died on July 11, 1981.
Survivors include four daughters, Debra Donovan (James Kane) of Oakpark, IL, Christine (David) Stolz of Nashua, Norah (Kevin) Kennedy of New Hampton and Elizabeth (Craig) Ebert of Sisseton, SD; eleven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Daniel; and a brother, William MacKay in infancy.
