MEDFORD Services for Arthur W. Zimpel, 83, of Route 3, Medford, who died at 1:55 p.m. Monday at Memorial Hospital in Medford, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Holway. The Rev. Roger L. Tellock will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state from 4-9 p.m. Thursday at the Hemer Funeral Home in Medford. The Medford American Legion and VFW Posts will conduct full military memorial rites at graveside. Mr. Zimpel was born Aug. 16, 1894 in Kekaskee. He received his education in Medford area schools and married Carrie Nelson Sept. 16, 1929 in Medford. Mr. Zimpel came to Taylor County as a child and lived in the Town of Medford until he entered the U.S. Army during World War I, serving in France. He returned in 1919 and farmed in the Town of Medford. In 1929 he moved to Sheboygan and was employed by the Electric Power Co. From 1943-1951 he worked for Heil Co. of Milwaukee. He moved to the Town of Little Black and was self-employed as a blacksmith until retiring in 1970. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. He is survived by his widow; four sons, Richard of Denver, Colo., Delbert of Chippewa Falls, Gerald of Golden, Colo., and Harvey of Fort Worth, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Carol) Kirkpatrick of Milwaukee; one brother, Otto of Milwaukee; four sisters, Mrs. Elsie Hook of Wauwatosa, Mrs. Nick (Irma) Haymann, and Mrs. Goldie Hornaday, both of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Richard (Alma) Edwards of Kewaskum; 10 grandchildren and one greatgrandchild. He was predeceased by two brothers and one sister.
