D. W. JUMP, physician and surgeon, Plainfield; the subject of this sketch was born in Huron Co., Ohio, Aug. 24, 1847. He married Miss Alice E. Watkins Nov. 13, 1873; she was born in Plainfield, IL; He lived in Ohio until September, 1871; his early days were passed on the farm at the age of 18, he began reading medicine during the summers and teaching school winters, continuing until 1869, when he attended the University of Michigan, graduating March 27, 1872; he then came to Plainfield and engaged in his profession. His parents, William H. and Mrs. Margaret Richards Jump, were natives of Maryland and New York, respectively; his mother lives in Ohio, where his father died Aug. 31, 1869.
