Son of William Houston 1756 - 1821 and Catherine Boyle abt 1758.
Married Mary Magdalenea Ettleman 7 September 1813 at Jackson, Stark County, Ohio.
James apparently died ca. 1841 in Nauvoo, Illinois. He is not found on any records after having performed LDS ordinances for his father sometime in that year. However, tax records for that year and succeeding years indicate his wife was head-of-household. Further, minutes of the Nauvoo Female Relief Society for 15 July 1843 record Mary Ettleman Houston declaring herself to be a widow.
It appears that, in the compilation of records for Winter Quarters, because James's unknown death date, he was given his wife's death date and location.
