Helen was the daughter of Albert Henry Wright (b.1879) and Violet Scott (b.1879). She grew up mostly in Billings, Montana where her family attended the Church of God. Raised in a Christian home, she was converted at an early age and her life was spent serving the Lord. She married William (Bill) O. Carrell (b.1912). They had five children, and after starting their family they moved to Portland, Oregon and attended Pacific Bible College to prepare for ministry. Bill was ordained to the ministry in the Church of God (Anderson, Ind.). After they relocated to Wyoming they worked in, and pastored several churches. Their young son, Harold, was killed in an accident, preceding them in death.
