Landry Pitre

Landry G. Pitre, 79, a native and resident of Galliano, died at 4:20 a.m. Aug. 14, 2005.

Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial at the Hebert Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Vilma F. Pitre; sons, Michael "T-Black" Pitre; daughter, Nadine Pitre; brothers Leo Blackie" Pitre, Claude Pitre and Ecland Pitre Jr.; brother, Harris Pitre; sisters, Lelia Pitre, Norma Pitre Gisclair, Velma "Sweet" Pitre and Inez Pitre Richoux.

He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. He was a World War II veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart Award. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was retired, His hobbies were fishing, trawling and handyman work.

Samart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
