Harvey Charles Fought, aged 53, popularly known locally by the nickname "Harve," died of a heart attack while squirrel hunting on Monday morning Wirt County Coroner Robert W. Coplin ruled after the finding of his body in the woods up Tucker Creek about 6:30 p.m. that day. He was a former Mayor and Councilman of the Town of Elizabeth, and was a lifelong carpenter and plumber by trade. Fought had gone hunting about 6 a.m. Monday and told his wife he wouldn't be gone long. When he hadn't returned by afternoon, a searching party was formed to look for him.
