Harvey Charles Fought, aged 53, popularly known locally by the nickname "Harve," died of a heart attack while squirrel hunting on Monday morning Wirt County Coroner Robert W. Coplin ruled after the finding of his body in the woods up Tucker Creek about 6:30 p.m. that day. He was a former Mayor and Councilman of the Town of Elizabeth, and was a lifelong carpenter and plumber by trade. Fought had gone hunting about 6 a.m. Monday and told his wife he wouldn't be gone long. When he hadn't returned by afternoon, a searching party was formed to look for him. His dog, which remained by his body throughout the day, barked leading to the discovery of his body. Survivors include his wife, Lelia Bell Fought; five step-sons, Bakley E. Bell, Vienna, Harold Bell, Torrence Bell, Parkersburg, Louis Bell, Belpre, and Jefferson Bell, Fairborn, O. Funeral services were conducted from the Elizabeth Methodist Church Friday with Rev. Otis Raines, officiating. Interment was in the Knights of Pythias Cemetery. The McCray Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
