Lloyd W. Tannahill was born Loyal Wellington Tannahill on Jan 20, 1900 in Yates Center, Kansas. His father was George H. Tannahill and his mother, Mary Evelyn Tannahill. Loyal was the 6th child of a family of 12 children. This family was a very active and hospitable one. While Loyal was growing up, his home was the stopping place for many a traveler. They always found the welcome mat out, and an extra place at the dining table and sleeping quarters. Music was important in the family and a "Farmer's Boy Band" was organized with several of Loyal's brothers and sisters in it. Their home was a community gathering place, playing games of hide and seek in the big hay barn in summer and Puss-in-the-Corner and Fruit Basket Upset in the winter. It was a lovely family to grow up in. Loyal married Carolyn Rachel Weide on June 8, 1927 in Yates Center, Kansas. To this union were born four children; Lois Marie, Shirley Mae, Ula Faye and Arthur Eugene.
