Jacksonville - Graveside services for John C. Abernathy, 75, of Jacksonville, formerly of Millersview, are scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Monday at Garden Oaks Memorial Park in Berryville with the Rev. Roy Prather officiating and arrangements under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home, Jacksonville.

Mr. Abernathy died Friday in Jacksonville.

He was born August 10, 1919 in Eden and resided in Jacksonville for 20 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a retired construction worker and was a Baptist.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Ronald Ardry of Ironton; one brother, Lambert Abernathy of Millersview; one granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Vivian and En Ricky Ponce; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers are Marty Steed, Johnny Haynie, David Adkins, Dwayne Joplin and En Ricky Ponce.

Family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. and 7-8:30 Sunday at the funeral home.
