Dorothy Martina Matilda Rosenberger went home to be with her Lord and her family on July 14, 2010, at the age of 91. She was born on Aug. 24, 1918, in Denver, Colo. Dorothy was raised as an only child by her parents, Annie and Martin Johnson, in Boulder, Colo.

Dorothy graduated from the University of Colorado in 1939 with a Bachelor's degree in mathematics. She graduated cum laude and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Dorothy taught mathematics at the university for many years.

Dorothy was married to Glenn Rosenberger on July 15, 1939, in Boulder, Colo., and together, they raised two sons, Rona and Gary, and one daughter, Kathy. They shared 70 years of marriage together. She was a member of the First Christian Church where she was a faithful choir member. She served the church as deaconess and treasurer for many years. Dorothy was also very active in the Boulder chapter of the General Federation of Woman's Club and served as both local and state president. She sang in many community choirs and belonged to several local music clubs. Dorothy was also a Camp Fire Girls leader. She and Glenn were members of the Boulder Senior Center.

Dorothy and Glenn left Boulder in 1999, moving to Oak Harbor to be with their daughter Kathy. They soon became active members of Family Bible Church and the Silver Eagles group. They enjoyed going to the Oak Harbor Senior Center for lunch and cards. Dorothy's special love was spending time with her grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She loved gardening, music and math, and was also an avid reader. Dorothy had been a resident of Summer Hill Retirement Center for the past year.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter Kathy VanSant and son-in-law Lewis and her grandchildren and their spouses: Dr. Charles and Marcia VanSant of Grayslake, Ill.; John and Ruth VanSant of Littleton, Colo., and their children Michaela, Gabrielle and Nathaniel; and Paul and Sherry VanSant of Camano Island, and their children Benjamin, Brooke and Bethany.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn, her parents and by two sons, Richard and Gary.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 24 ,at 10:30 a.m. at Mountain View Memorial Park in Boulder with Pastor Marty Martin of the Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church officiating, followed by a memorial celebration on Aug. 16 at 2 p.m. at Family Bible Church in Oak Harbor with Pastor Ron Lawler officiating.
