Robert P. Bohbrink, 68, of Diamond Life Health of rural Montezuma, died Thursday, August 21, 1997, in University Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 AM, Monday, August 25, 1997, in St. Francis Catholic Church, Rockwell City, Iowa. Fr. Eugene Ceperley officiated and burial was in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Rockwell City. Casket-bearers were Craig and Brent Bohbrink, Brent and Jerry Johnson, Callahan Holmstrom and Jack Lang. A Vigil Service was held Sunday evening at the Palmer Funeral Home.
Nevenhoven Funeral Home, Brooklyn, was in charge of local arrangements.
Robert Paul Bohbrink was born on February 17, 1929, in Lake City, Iowa, to Albert and Lauriel Powers Bohbrink. He was raised in the Rockwell City/Twin Lakes area and graduated from Rockwell City High School with the class of 1947. He was a longtime farmer, livestock producer and cattle buyer in the area. He was active in high school sports, the Rockwell City Fair Board, and the Center Trail Blazers 4-H Club.
Robert was an active member of the St. Francis Parish and assisted with the planning of the new church and grade school.
He was married to Beverly Jane Gidel in June of 1949 at Rockwell City and they were later divorced.
Survivors include his sisters, MaryAlice Albrecht of Chula Vista, CA and Jean Johnson of Webster City, IA; his children, Clark and Linda Bohbrink of Danville, IN, Scott and Nancy Bohbrink of Crystal Lake, IL, Shona Bohbrink of Fremont, NE, Marshall Bohbrink of Bloomington, IL, and Debra Holmstrom of Fort Dodge, IA; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Neil, and a sister, Muriel.
