OTTO EKMAN, 78, STRICKEN
FUNERAL RITES SATURDAY
Otto Eckman, 79, Winter area resident since 1924, died Thruway evening, March 30th in the Hayward Hospital.
He was born February 12, 1889 in Jonkopings, Lan, Smoland, Sweden and came to the United States in 1910.
He was married to Alice Mae Shoemaker on March 27, 1918 at Red Oak, Iowa. The family resided in California for several years prior to coming to the Winter Community. Mr. Ekman operated a farm before retirement in 1950. His wife and one son preceded him in death. He was a member of the Evangelical Free Church of Winter.
Survivors include six sons, Carl of Mounty Shasta, California; George of Excelsior, Minnesota, Otto Jr., of Hamilton, Georgia; William of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Robert of Midwest City, Oklahoma; Sven of Racine; six daughters, Mrs. Linnes Michael of Milwaukee, Mrs. Ruth Thorbjornsen of Buffalo Grove, Illinois, Mrs. Grace Hunter of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Mrs. Nina Clements of Radisson, Mrs Edith (Tiny) Trainer of Milwaukee, Mrs. Greta Korngiebel of Chicago; 29 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; one brother, John Ekman of Reiveside, California.
The body lay in state Friday afternoon and evening at the Koerpe Funeral Home Chapel in Hayward. Private funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the funeral chapel with Rev Edward Kimbal, pastor of the Winter Evangelical Free Church officiating. Burial will be in the Winter Cemetery.

Emigrated from Sweden via Liverpool, England on the vessel IVERNIA, landing Boston, Massachusetts on June 3, 1910. Name of wife is Alice May Shoemaker. Last foreign residence was Hultsja, Smoland, Sweden. He died in 1969 in Winter, Sawyer County, Wisconsin. Children: Carl, George, and Otto.
